Billing & Plans
Current Plan
View your current subscription plan, status, and next billing date. You can manage your subscription, update payment methods, or cancel through the Stripe billing portal.
Available Plans
Painkiller AI uses usage-based pricing:
- Free: 3 monitor runs (lifetime limit)
- Starter: $19/month with $19 usage/month
- Pro: $49/month with $49 usage/month
- Scale: $99/month with $99 usage/month
The free plan includes 3 lifetime monitor runs to help you try out Painkiller AI. Paid plans use monthly usage allowances that reset each month. Each monitor run consumes usage based on the search complexity.
Usage Meter
The Usage Meter (visible in Usage for paid plans) provides real-time tracking of your spending:
- Shows current usage vs. your monthly allowance (e.g., "$12.50 of $19.00")
- Visual progress bar indicating percentage used
- Daily usage chart showing spending patterns over the billing period
- Displays when your usage will reset for the next billing cycle
- Color-coded warnings when approaching or exceeding limits
For more detailed information about Usage, see the Usage section below.
Usage
Usage in Settings provides detailed insights into your usage and costs. It's available for all paid plans and shows two main components:
Usage Meter
At the top of Usage, you'll see a Usage Meter card that displays:
- Current Usage: Shows how much you've spent this billing period (e.g., "$12.50 of $19.00")
- Progress Bar: Visual indicator showing what percentage of your monthly allowance you've used
- Daily Usage Chart: A line graph showing your daily spending over the current billing period, helping you identify usage patterns
- Reset Date: When your usage will reset for the next billing cycle
Usage Warnings
- Yellow Progress Bar (80-99%): You're approaching your monthly limit. Consider upgrading your plan to get a larger monthly allowance.
- Red Progress Bar (100%+): You've exceeded your limit. Monitors will pause until your usage resets at the start of the next billing cycle.
Note: The Usage Meter is only visible for paid plans. Free plan users see a different interface since they have a lifetime limit rather than monthly usage.
Monitor Capacity by Plan
The number of monitor runs you can execute depends on your plan's monthly usage allowance. Here's approximately what you can expect:
- Starter plan ($19/month): ~1 monitor running once per day, or ~7 monitors running once per week
- Pro plan ($49/month): ~3 monitors running once per day, or ~20 monitors running once per week
- Scale plan ($99/month): ~5 monitors running once per day, or ~40 monitors running once per week
These are approximate estimates - actual capacity may vary based on search complexity and AI usage per run.
Monitor Run History & Costs
Below the Usage Meter, you'll find a detailed table showing every monitor run with its associated costs. This table includes:
- Run Time: When the monitor run started (displayed in your local timezone)
- Monitor: The name of the monitor that ran, plus any error messages if the run failed
- Status: Whether the run succeeded (green badge) or failed (red badge)
- Results Found: How many results were discovered in this run (only shown for successful runs)
- Total Tokens: The total number of tokens used for this run (includes input, output, cached, and reasoning tokens)
- Total Cost: The exact cost in USD for this run, displayed with 6 decimal places for precision
Understanding Costs
Each monitor run costs money based on AI usage. Painkiller AI uses an agentic AI system that dynamically adapts to each search, making intelligent decisions about how to find and analyze results. This means every search is unique—the AI may take different approaches, explore different paths, and process varying amounts of information depending on what it discovers. As a result, costs are dynamic and can vary from one run to the next, even for the same monitor query.
The cost for each run is calculated from:
- The complexity of your search query
- The number of results found and processed
- The amount of AI processing required to analyze and match results
- The agentic decisions the AI makes during the search process
Costs are displayed with high precision (6 decimal places) because individual runs can be very small amounts. These small costs add up to your monthly usage allowance.
Pagination
The table shows 25 runs per page. Use the "Previous" and "Next" buttons at the bottom to navigate through your run history. This helps you review older runs and track usage over time.
Accessing Run History
You can access monitor run history from two places:
- Settings Page (Usage): See all monitor runs across all monitors with costs and token usage
- Monitor List: Click the menu (⋮) on any monitor and select "View Run History" to see runs for that specific monitor
Run Status Indicators
- Success: The monitor run completed successfully and found results (or confirmed no results match your query)
- Error: The monitor run failed due to an error. Check the error message displayed under the monitor name for details
Using Usage
Usage is valuable for:
- Tracking Spending: Monitor your usage throughout the billing period to avoid unexpected pauses
- Understanding Patterns: Use the daily chart to see when you're using the most and plan accordingly
- Budget Planning: Review historical costs to determine if you need to upgrade your plan
What Happens When You Reach Your Limit?
When you reach or exceed your monthly usage allowance:
- All monitors will automatically pause
- You won't be charged extra fees - monitoring simply stops
- Your usage will reset at the start of your next billing cycle
- You can upgrade to a higher plan anytime to get a larger monthly allowance
- Monitors will automatically resume once your usage resets or you upgrade
